I teach piano (ABRSM) Grades 1-8 Practical, (ABRSM) Grades 1-5 Theory, Trinity piano syllabus grades 1-8, Rock School syllabus and non-exam books/repertoire. I am a passionate, conscientious and friendly individual, who is patient and understanding. I provide guidance and constructive feedback to help students achieve their aims and objectives by motivating them to practice the right way. I enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding, especially when I see the progress of students. I believe lessons should be fun and engaging by preparing a variety of teaching strategies tailored to the individual and to build upon my own experience. I enjoy composing my own music and it challenges my way of thinking and creativity by exploring new possibilities for being original, adventurous and innovative. The recycling of old ideas from previous compositions to improve and expand them into more mature and refined concepts. I like all sorts of music from different backgrounds/cultures/genres/sub-genres/periods and became very interested in impressionist/modern/contemporary classical composers, such as Bartok, Stravinsky, Ligeti, Messiaen, Debussy and Ravel during my time at college and university. I also enjoy improvising around simple chord progressions and arranging popular songs.
