CurrentJames Gary Maniery began an environmental division of PAR in 1985. The first environmental document addressed a historic truss bridge in Amador County called Five Mile Road Bridge. A Caltrans/FHWA approved Initial Study (IS)/Environmental Assessment (EA) and Section 4(f) approval document was prepared for the project. Five Mile Bridge is preserved off-site today. This first project triggered other similar studies (including Cook Road Bridge, another historic truss bridge in Amador County) and set the stage for working on a variety of transportation/public works projects in six Caltrans Districts. From 1985 through 2018, Gary completed 77 transportation-related environmental projects, serving as project manager, principal and co-author on 96 documents. Gary has also completed Forest Service Land Exchanges on Plumas National Forest, preparing EA's to USDA standards. He has completed environmental technical studies and environmental documentation in some of California's most sensitive environments including the Lake Tahoe Basin, Scenic Highway 1 at Big Sur and San Simeon, and on the Monterey Peninsula at Holman Highway and Pebble Beach.
