As Principal Heritage Consultant in CH2M HILL's UK Water Business Group I give historic environment advice to clients in the private and public sectors. I assist clients with their obligations to archaeology (terrestrial and marine), historic landscapes/ townscapes and built heritage. My advice is given in line with national and local planning frameworks. Appraisal and assessment is a core function of my post. I've carried out desk-based assessment (to IfA standards), webTAG appraisals, scoping, Conservation Management Plans, Heritage Statements and Environmental Statements (ES) to various criteria. Much of this work is part of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Incorporation of the historic environment within development projects benefits from early stage and ongoing stakeholder consultation. I regularly represent my company and clients in such consultations.I have had extensive involvement in land development, pipelines (water, oil and gas, electricity), flood defence, tidal defence, managed realignments, habitat creation, 'traditional' and renewable energy sites, rail infrastructure and highways.
