James is a climate change entrepreneur and early stage technology investor now also managing a rural estate on the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond in Scotland. Past experience has included taking a low carbon finance business from concept to an IPO on London's AIM. After exiting that business, James has invested his time and capital into numerous clean energy and sustainability ventures, as an advisor, angel investor and Cleantech Dealmaker for the Department for International Trade's Global Entrepreneur Programme. James now manages Montrose Estates, a diverse rural business that includes an in-hand livestock farm of 160 suckler cows and 1,500 ewes, renewable energy (hydro & biomass) assets, hospitality, leisure, and forestry activities. He is particularly interested in opportunities to reduce the climate change impact of livestock farming.Alongside his work James has served as a Board member for Borderline (now part of Scotscare), a charity providing frontline services to homeless Scots in London. He is currently a Director of the Loch Lomond Fisheries Trust and Chairman of the Board of the Buchanan Community Hydro Society.
