The work was performed in collaboration with the Australian Federal Police (AFP) in accordance with a research agreement between the Defense Science Technology Office and the University of Canberra. The practical aspect of this project was performed within the AFP's forensic science laboratory. Validation was performed in accordance with ISO 17025. Outcomes of the project were reported in technical reports at major milestones and completion of the project. A multiple day, information exchange workshop concluded the project, which raised awareness of the conclusions to a representative from each Australian state's forensic division.The instrumental analysis was predominantly performed using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS) and ion chromatography (IC). Additional instrumentation included gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and capillary electrophoresis (CE).
