Having being involved with the measurement and reporting of vibration magnitudes of hand held power tools, since 2016, I have developed various systems to assist customers with identifying and categorising risks posed by hand transmitted vibration and poor maintenance, from their hand held power tool fleets.Having completed and passed the IoA’s Certificate Course in the Management of Occupational Exposure to Hand Arm Vibration in April 2022, I am able to advise customers on and recommend products and steps to reduce operator exposure to hand transmitted vibration in the workplace, as outlined in The Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005. My experience of power tools within both industrial and manufacturing environments and the need for customers to be compliant with PUWER, provides me with further insight in to what measures can be implemented to achieve a top class Hand Arm Vibration Management Plan.I believe that there is always room for improvement and I am always looking for ways in which we can work towards a safer workplace.
