Secondment with the Department of Communities working within the Office of the Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence. The position will help to connect research and policy by embedding a researcher within a policy team, improving the accessibility of research and highlighting opportunities for research to respond to current policy challenges.

As an industry-funded Associate Professor at the Australian Centre for Child Protection, my role primarily involves undertaking research, evaluation, policy analysis and consultancy that will advance knowledge in the field of child protection studies and supporting the implementation of evidence-based interventions into the sector. I also have ongoing research into effective multi-agency responses to child sexual abuse, effective multi-agency deliberation processes, and processes to support therapy engagement and completion for children following a disclosure of child sexual abuse. I also supervise PhD projects examining child abuse prevention approaches, and aspects of multi-agency collaboration on child abuse and harmful sexualised behaviours.

As a Senior Research Fellow my position involves identifying and developing opportunities to improve the way the sector responds to child abuse and neglect. I believe improving the connection between research and policy/practice is best way to improve outcomes for kids and foster the sustainability of the sector.My current work is focused on multi-disciplinary responses to abuse; the way different disciplines and agencies work together in collaborative models. As a part of this I have developed a program of research into the barriers to engaging with therapy following a disclosure of child sexual abuse to police. This research will seek to inform the development of interventions to improve the accessibility of therapy, and ultimately successful engagement and completion of therapy.

My post-doctoral research program focuses on cross-agency responses to child sexual abuse. The program of research over the course of my current post-doctoral fellowship included:•Systematic Evidence Reviews of Multi-Disciplinary Teams: A series of reviews examining the evidence of the efficacy of Child Advocacy Centres and of Multi-Disciplinary Teams generally, structural variations of multi-disciplinary teams and their impact of the theory of change for teams, and supportive factors for the implementation of teams;•Theory of Change Development for Multi-Disciplinary Teams: An article summarising the underlying theory of change for multi-disciplinary teams responding to child abuse;•The Evaluation of the Multi-Agency Investigation & Support Team in Armadale, Western Australia: An evaluation of a pilot centre based response developed by the WA Police, Department of Child Protection and Family Support, WA Health, and Parkerville Children and Youth Care Inc. This included a qualitative process evaluation, and a quasi-experimental fidelity and outcomes evaluation. •Characteristics of Child Advocacy Centres in the United States: A survey of US Child Advocacy Centre Directors about the characteristics of their centres, and the relative importance of these characteristics for establishing and developing effective working relationships with partner agencies (i.e. Police, Child Protection, Health Agencies);•A National Review of Collaborative Processes and Frameworks: A policy review of Australian jurisdictions and the arrangements that are in place to support cross agency collaboration in the response to child sexual abuse.

Prepares and delivers tutorial activities in collaboration with the unit coordinator. Presents material and facilitates class discussion and reflection.Marks and assesses students assessments in accordance with criteria guidelines. Collaborates with other tutors and the unit coordinator to ensure fair and consistent marking.Manages class lists and attendance records, and student assessment results.

Manages a significant research project (Higher Education Participation, and Partnerships Program $200,000) exploring traditionally underrepresented student groups and their experience of online learning.Collaborates with Australian Universities to arrange productive collaborations with students and staff for the research.Conducts interviews, technology enhanced focus groups, and designs survey tools.Conducts analysis of qualitative and quantitative data, and produces reports for a variety of audiences.

Since November I have been based at UTS Business School working on an externally funded research project looking at how universities map and collect data about student achievement of graduate attributes. My role in the project was to carry out the research in consultation with the grant-holders; primarily this has involved arranging and conducting interviews with Associate Deans of Teaching and Learning across Australian universities. I have also been responsible for arranging and conducting focus groups, data analysis and the preparation of reports, and the presentation of findings at various conferences and workshops. My day-to-day role involved managing communications between the team and other stakeholders (e.g. project reference group, discipline expert groups), the management of project accounts and payments, as well as monitoring the progress of the project.

Responsible for conducting and managing research and evaluation projects that provide meaningful evidence to inform the policy and practice of the organisation. This includes conducting comprehensive reviews of literature, carrying out applied, rigorous, and ethical research, and producing meaningful and accessible reports including recommendations. Provides management and policy advice based on quality evidence. Prepares briefings and presentations for senior members of staff. Reviews and examines proposed research to be conducted among the Department's clients and staff as a member of the Departments Research and Evaluation Committee. Participates as a member of the Research and Evaluation team in developing future directions for the team through planning days and commenting on policy and strategic documents.

Provides support and advice to the primary researcher on correspondence, research methodology, and literature. Organises conferences, presentations and other academic events.Identifies research and funding opportunities, and develops research questions and research methodology. Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of data and summarises results. Writes clear summative reports.
