As the MIS Development lead, I have been working with the director of MIS and the team to develop college group databases and MIS Systems. I aim to bring in an agile mindset to the team and deliver robust technical solutions. I work with third party suppliers and stakeholders to resolve issues and improve business systems, map out business processes that deliver more effective systems for learners and the college group staff on different sites. I have been developing system requirements to meet curriculum requirements and have been developing the college groups ILP, exam, grading and pastoral modules. I have been implementing team processes to manage change, implement upgrades and manage risk during different phases of the academic year. I have been encouraging the team to collaborate effectively together to share learning and introduce transparency by developing accurate team technical documentation online. I have been defining and delivering a range of different SSRS and Power BI reports for the senior management team and other key stakeholders to provide insight into data and help them make important business decisions.I have built various applications/tools to assist with our ETL process to translate curriculum exam and assessment data for different college departments and import this into the college systems. I have also been involved with various data analysis activities to transform data and improve quality throughout the data lifecycle involving SQL queries and scripting of different formats such as JSON, XML and standard relational database formats. I have strong SQL skills and experience with CTEs, Views, Functions, Stored Procedures and SQL jobs.

At this time I was working as a freelancer and various development agencies/clients to develop web applications, web sites and relational database systems using a variety of technologies including .NET & PHP (Laravel). I developed a range of PHP & WordPress websites for a list in a variety of sectors including health & leisure, law and business/IT solutions. I also spent this time training to complete a PRINCE project management course.

I lead the technical team to deliver successful and engaging web applications, database applications and API technology for various clients. Developing a suite of web applications and mobile content in the Azure cloud using C# ASP.NET MVC and a range of front-end JavaScript technologies. This role involved managing complex technical projects and their accounts with client project managers, business stakeholders, product owners, business/systems analysts, and various teams of developers. I had to negotiate and prioritise requirements to deliver continuous improvement to product owners.I was also responsible for the development of information architecture documents, functionality specifications and design documentation of web applications and database systems. This design process would help define core database entity mapping and metadata definitions, helping the team to translate design into the products for our clients, delivering reliable and functional systems that meet the needs of the business.I lead the team to drive agile project management by delivering increments in sprints and conventional waterfall approaches to predictive projects when required. Empowering my team and building a transparent, trusting, positive and collaborative environment for them to work.Other responsibilities included the need to plan, prioritise and schedule the team’s work, while mentoring members of the team and upskilling them with the latest technologies. I also developed a range of dev-op skills to manage the delivery and changes of application code to different environments. It was important to manage data and systems that fit within IT governance systems standards and IT control policies of our clients.

The core responsibility of this role was to analyse and document key requirements, then develop applications for a range of client applications. A key part of this role was to engage and build relationships with clients and their technical teams. This involved defining systems analysis processes to identify problems and define the requirements of the systems. This included system design processes for user behavior and interactivity with various system components, whilst documenting these steps to share with the team and business owners throughout the software development lifecycle. Such documentation included ERD diagrams, Interactive Sequence diagrams, data dictionaries, flow charts and other data modelling & UML techniques. I helped to define Policy and compliance processes to adhere to OWASP and IRM standards. I was able to gather data for various projects with analytic tools such as Google Analytics & Adobe Site Catalyst to help measure engagement and building statistical reports.

I was responsible for developing the data access development for multiple website projects and internal applications.

We designed and implemented numerous content management systems for multinational clients as well as smaller clients to utilise all aspects of DHTML (CSS & JavaScript), PHP, ASP and database technologies. I was also responsible for developed smaller scale dynamic solutions such as mailers, banners, application forms and web tools. I was able to analyse, design and implement robust database solutions in both SQL Server 2005 and MySQL 4 with knowledge of DTS and migration techniques. I proved effective in problem solving and providing creative solutions for challenging projects with high profile clients and gained responsibility for heading up the technical aspects of the team supporting the progression of newer members of the company. As a team, we implemented re-usable code modules to assist quick turnaround projects and we applied various project management techniques have been applied to maintain naming consistency of all SQL Server objects (procedures, views, roles, triggers etc.).The role also required the need to provide a range of support services to host websites for our smaller clients.

At the college I developed and maintained various web-based applications & their Intranet. I produced a range of systems utilising both server & client-side coding. For a core project, I built a PHP online Registration system to compete with a larger scale outsourced solution. The feedback from the users piloting the Online Register system was encouraging and it identified that the system improved communications between academic and support staff, as well as improving the functionality of business processes across the college. In this role I was able to build up strong SQL Server (T-SQL) skills and gain good experience with database administration and management tasks. We working through the complete lifecycle of projects and put what I had learnt at university into practice. I was able to defined system requirements and reports by gathering information from users and I developed key analytical and problem-solving skills dealing with user’s ad hoc queries and problems on a day-to-day basis.

Here I learnt to plan, prioritise and delegate tasks to different members of the team. I strengthened verbal communication & the ability to listen to end users. These were successfully applied a customer focused orientation to the service.

I gained good project & time management skills to work on own initiative to complete the short-term contract through to completion.
