James Murray is a partner in Milbank's Singapore office and a member of the firm’s Project, Energy and Infrastructure Finance Group. James advises on the development and financing of power, oil and gas, mining, resources and other infrastructure projects. He also has extensive experience in structured and acquisition financings, restructurings and M&A. He has particular expertise in multi-sourced financings, including those involving export credit agencies and multi-lateral institutions. James has advised clients on an extensive range of projects and financings across Asia, including in Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, the Philippines, Malaysia, Lao PDR, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, China, Mongolia and Australia.James is ranked as a Band 1 lawyer for Projects & Infrastructure in Singapore and Indonesia by the latest edition of Chambers Asia with market commentators identifying him as "one of the most influential projects lawyers in Asia". He is also ranked as a leading Projects & Infrastructure and Banking & Finance lawyer in Asia-Pacific and the Philippines by Chambers Asia and Chambers Global. James is named amongst the “Best of the Best – Global” for Project Finance by Euromoney’s Best of the Best in Project Finance Global Guide (1 of 30 top practitioners globally). In the last four year’s alone, James has led on project finance transactions that have won a total of 17 deal of the year awards from leading industry publications.James received his combined Bachelor of Laws and Commerce (Honours) from the University of Melbourne, Australia, in 1994 and his Master of Laws from Monash University, Australia, in 1999.
