I am an enthusiastic research scientist who enjoys applying his knowledge to real world problems. I have been fortunate enough to learn a number of practical physics and engineering techniques making me an adept researcher. In addition, I have project planning, product development and patent drafting skills and have worked alone and as part of teams and multi-national collaborations.I am now a full-time teacher having made the switch from research. Am enjoying getting many more students from wide ranging backgrounds to study physics. My practical skills and experiences have allowed me to bring many experiments to the classroom for greater engagement but also be able to describe the life and importance of physicists in the real world.I have worked in a number of fields; nanotechnology, petrochemical, touchscreen, microscopy as well as studying in cryogenics and high voltage for my PhD. My desire has always been to apply the practical skills I have developed to renewable / alternative energy production / nanotechnology since I see these as crucial to mankind's further development. This said, my wide ranging experience in numerous subjects allows me to feel confident entering different research fields as I have done in the past.Former specialties: Atomic Force Microscopy (and other SPM). Others specialties: High voltage engineering, vacuum physics, low temperature physics, report writing, experimental physics, nanotechnological methods, presenting results, patent drafting, product development, SolidWorks.
