SAFC Hi-tech manufactures various materials for the Semi conductor Industry, I run three different processes, and all differ greatly:1. Trimethylgallium, this process involves Grignard’s, Alkylation’s and Distillations, bottling end product2. BoronTrichloride,this process involves Reactions and Distillations, bottling end product3. Silane Gas transfilling, this process involves Cascading and Compressing and analysing Silane to high pressures.All these processes are of an extremely high quality made under an inert atmosphere as their properties are either Toxic or Pyrophoric.My role as a Charge hand means not only do I run the processes, I oversee colleagues, and out of hours maintain the security of the site, make sure all are working safely and adhering to working procedures. I am well versed and trained in Health and Safety, COSHH, Risk Assessments, Work Permit and Environmental Emissions.Last year I travelled to Taiwan to our sister company and helped successfully commission our new Trimethlygallium plant. I am a fully trained First Aider, hold a managing safely IOSH certificate, and also hold a Fork Lift Truck licence

I worked on SSK class submarines undertaking numerous fitting jobs such as lining up and installation of the Torpedo tubes, marking off and fitting pressure hull penetrations (which were classed as a specialist’s job).

I was employed by Beddis Kenleys building, commissioning and installing hot foil blocking presses in the United Kingdom and Europe, August 1985 I married Debbie and moved to the Wirral, commuting to Leeds for three months until I got a job at Cammell Lairds.

I served a four years apprenticeship at Crabtree Vickers, attending Airedale and Wharfedale College on days release to obtain my City and Guilds.Crabtree Vickers manufactured printing presses, I gained all the skills needed to start a career in mechanical engineering,
