Hi folks, my name is Jim from west Kentucky. I'm happy to 'meet' you. Yes, I'm from Kentucky and love the beauty this state contains and naturally I have had a deep and tenacious interest in the ancient peoples who lived and died where I now call home. Additionally, when I was but a boy of 10 years, I picked up a Life magazine in a hospital waiting room. The cover, inside story and accompanying photos depicting the Herculean task of moving the huge temples of Ramses II and his Chief Royal Wife Nefertari at Abu Simbel to safety above the rapidly encroaching waters of Lake Nasser. Needless to say, I've been interested in practically everything archaeological since that time.I wanted to be, at first, an Egyptologist, then I thought about being a North American archaeologist, but between all my thinking and life getting in the way, I missed out on those professions. I did however, go back to college at the ripe old age of 47--adhering to convention was never one of my strong suits--to complete my dream of at least acquiring a masters degree in anthropology with my major areas of interest in...come on, guess, ah come on, you can guess it, yeah, that's right, my major areas in archaeology and ancient history.Well, as a summary to this summary, I just want to say that as a side line to these interests, I knew I loved books on the subjects and wanted to make a book list available to all those like me interested in archaeology/ancient history, especially some of the more difficult to locate museum and other institutional publications. I find it fun, interesting and another way that I can stay close to my love of ancient history and archaeology.Well, I suppose that's about it. Thanks for hanging in there with my ramblings. I do appreciate it.Regards to All,JimP.S. If you have any suggestions about books and other publications or just constructive criticism, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks again!
