As part of the Vice-Chancellor's office, I provided high-level strategic and policy advice to members of the University executive across a broad range of portfolio matters relating to our engagement with government. I led the University's engagement with the federal government in Canberra, and regularly briefed government, opposition, and crossbench MPs and their offices on University priorities or on legislation impacting the university sector. I provided strategic advice, including through the development of strategic documents guiding our engagement with government, and facilitated opportunities for advocacy between our senior leadership, relevant Ministers, and other emerging members of parliament - particularly in the education and science portfolio areas.

Worked in several roles including as the Strategic Adviser to the Chief Minister and Treasurer, and in a leadership role in senior Ministerial portfolios including the Minister for Transport and Roads, the Special Minister of State, and Minister for Skills.Oversaw key aspects of the government's legislation agenda, including the provision of policy and strategic advice to senior Ministers, negotiations with the crossbench and opposition on behalf of the government, and close engagement with external stakeholders in the business and community sectors.

Was the MP's principal adviser, overseeing an office of five staff, and was responsible for setting the strategic direction of the office and keeping our project plans on track.

Managed government and stakeholder relations on behalf of the sector's peak-body during a period of reform in the sector.Kept the CEO and senior leadership abreast of relevant changes impacting the sector across different levels of government.Supported development and implementation of the 'Early Learning: Everyone Benefits' campaign during the 2016 Federal Election.

Advised the Shadow Assistant Treasurer and the Shadow Assistant Minister for Health.
