I manage the Emerging Technology team at SSE Renewables, working across onshore energy generation and storage and offshore wind. My team and I champion technology and innovations that lead to postive sustainability impacts.

I manage the renewable energy portfolio at the National Composites Centre. This includes direct engagement at a strategic level with senior stakeholders within customer organisations to plan and roadmap R&D programmes of work. My team manages a range of R&D programmes for wind turbine blade OEMs, turbine owners and the supply chain. Our projects push the boundaries of composites materials and structures to decrease the LCoE and increase the sustainability credentials of turbine components.

Reporting directly into the Business Unit Director, I am the Technology Programme Manager leading on oil and gas, renewable energy and Industry 4.0 projects at the NCC. My projects focus on R&D, design and manufacturing of composite structures. I lead teams of multi-disciplinary engineers on a project portfolio that includes:• Development of continuous carbon fibre automated deposition technologies• Concept design through to prototype manufacture of subsea composite structures, ultimately leading to the introduction of composite structures in oil and gas applications • Prediction of the long-term behaviour of thermoplastic composite pipes using finite element modelling My Industry 4.0 responsibilities include:• Definition of the NCC’s digital roadmap • Development of strategic partnerships in the supply chain and for collaborative R&D projects • Project management of digital manufacturing capability development projects that will position the NCC as a world-leader in composite manufacturing R&D

I worked within the Emerging Markets and SMEs team within the Programmes Function at the NCC. I managed a diverse portfolio of industrial engineering research and technology with a focus on the design and development of composite structures. My customers typically operate in the oil and gas, defence, renewable energy and gas turbine sectors. I led a range of projects that span the capability areas at the NCC, including advanced manufacture, design and simulation, process design and digital manufacturing.

I am a Senior Engineer within the Structural Technology group, working on projects within aerospace, automotive, nuclear and defence markets. My work involves:> Finite element analysis of metallic components, including fatigue modelling of hot-end gas turbine components (low-cycle fatigue, creep, damage tolerance); > Hand calculation structural analyses of steel structures for marine applications subject to shock events; > Development of finite element tools to predict the distortion of composite structures for automotive applications. I project manage and technically-lead various programmes for our customers, many of which span 12 months and involve multiple engineers working across the UK. I am responsible for delivering large and complex projects to time, cost and quality to high-profile clients. I am the Account Manager for a key automotive client, and am responsible for responding to quotation requests (bid writing, resource planning, cost estimation) and ensuring our working relationship in maintained. I am also jointly-responsible for Quality Assurance in my office, carrying out internal quality audits of processes according to our Quality Management System to help maintain our ISO 9001:2015 status
