I started teaching in the IB at CAIS in Changchun, China. During my time there I taught in both the MYP and DP and served as department head/ now Curriculum Leader in Individuals and Society or humanities. I taught TOK for most of that time and DP History but also as was needed DP Geography, MYP I & S as well as MYP English B. I also was active in supporting the students in the following programs: HMUN & Student Government. I then took a job with UCSI SH in Port Dickson, Malaysia where I served as both the MYP & DP Coordinator for a time before focusing only on the DP Coordinator. I continued to teach a full load including TOK and DP History but also Business Management for the two years I was there. We helped install a CAS and Extracurricular Coordinator and increased enrollment including to our boarding program. With a minimum of staff we also broadened our course options to better serve our diverse student body. From there I rejoined my previous Head in Egypt at NAC (Narmer American College) where I oversaw the American Elementary Division and the Preschool- some 23 classes in total. At OCIS I taught in the high school and served first as the Secondary Principal; later being promoted as Academic Director and helping to organize our staff, facilities, support admissions, arrange PD, and coordinate with the Principals on our master schedule, teacher appraisal, with staff planning and hiring, resourcing, etc.This July I will be moving schools but staying in the same city to act as the Principal of Shenyang Transformation International School. Excited to see the potential there and meet so many great people. My hope is to continue to develop an established school toward improving our academic and other programs, to maintain our current accreditation and to help grow our school in size and depth. Excited to try out a PLC model to focus on a shared understanding of teaching and learning that gives opportunity to improve best practice and innovation and creative application based on staff and student strengths.
