I have had the good fortune to work with people at great academic institutions, large commercial enterprises and start-up companies. In my current role at Nebraska Medicine I work with healthcare professionals that are changing the lives of patients and student each day. As the primary teaching hospital of the University of Nebraska Medical Center our staff help train thousands of professionals, the majority of which practice in Nebraska or the Midwest. We provide care for patients throughout Nebraska and the region in partnership with many communities., We are engaged in cutting edge clinical research to bring new therapies forward. My past roles at Nebraska Medicine and UNMC include directing various laboratory sections, serving as the interim Dean of Medicine Associate Vice Chancellor for Research and interim President of the University of Nebraska. As a pathologist I have focused on developing new diagnostic technologies (cancer, molecular diagnostics, imaging and microbiology). I was part of the leadership teams that developed the ThinPrep™ Pap Test and the Bloodhound™ Integrated Hematology System. My corporate experiences include Cytyc Corporation, Constitution Medical Inc. and Roche Diagnostics Hematology. As Chief Medical Officer of these companies we developed technologies to improve medical care.In the "Silicon Prairie" Karen Linder and I invest in potential high-growth companies through Linseed Capital. We are also founders of Tethon 3D, which offers novel materials, hardware and services for ceramic 3D printing.
