Our objective is to operate with an equitable lens while filling community gaps. Hikma exists to drive rigorous change across academic fields and contexts of practice. We offer tailored consulting services for public scholars and social sector leaders as well as training and capacity development for organizations and teams.We work with scholars, social sector leaders, research teams, and institutions to design intentional projects, communicate complex ideas, and build partnerships. Among many other activities, our clients advance microplastics policies, build pandemic resilience in the long-term care sector, and develop arts-based practices for survivor testimony collection.With our support, clients have informed public policy, produced podcasts, published media articles, and attracted over $5M in funding for public scholarship and programming.

The ACLS Leadership Institute for a New Academy (LINA) is a year-long pilot initiative designed to galvanize faculty to forge career paths in administration that will strengthen the humanities and drive forward-looking change. This program is generously funded by the Mellon Foundation for the academic year 2022-23.

The main charge of the DAC is to help the College strengthen ties with its alumni and their communities. At our semi-annual meetings, DAC members share ideas and make recommendations for future growth and development, while outside of these meetings, they act as advocates for the College and UB by keeping alumni and friends aware of opportunities for involvement and support.The College of Arts and Sciences has always been dedicated to educating well-rounded students, who work across disciplines to create new ways of thinking and solutions to issues impacting the world. DAC members provide UB students with a crucial link to the professional setting, providing avenues for students to interact with industry leaders and mentors.
