As the Global Process Owner (GPO) for time to revenue my global responsibilities include management of the end-to-end time data collection and revenue recognition processes. The role currently focuses on the development and deployment of standard practices across offices and assessment of overall process design to enhance efficiency and accuracy.My role requires me to bring together a culturally diverse group of colleagues from multiple functions within the organisation to critically evaluate strategic issues faced and develop pragmatic solutions, while then collaborating with a range of senior stakeholders across our offices as we embark on the change management process.

As a member of the Finance Digital Transformation team I was tasked with identifying and determining digital solutions to support the efficiency and accuracy of finance operations at McKinsey & Company. This was a global role looking at operations across our Firm, not only within the Japan office.

I supported the Japan office leadership team across a wide range of topics, most notably supporting the office growth strategy that sought to double the office in a five-year period. Other core areas of my role included monthly performance reporting and trend analysis and developing the necessary reports required, assessment and modelling of strategic alternatives, FP&A, and WIP and AR management. I also led the development of a pipeline management tool for the Japan office that was an essential tool to support the office management and subsequently rolled out on a global level. I supported the global development team to roll out this tool to other offices and continually evolve the product. I have also led reviews of expense policies and tools and played a core role in compliance monitoring and reporting. Beyond my standard office role, I have also played a leading role across the Finance team, both within Asia and at a global level. I was regularly asked to support projects of global significance, such as our pipeline management tool, reviewing SOPs to support automation of standard accounting processes and new system development. This exposure culminated in my rotation out of my Japan office role and into global roles, first with our Digital Transformation team, and then the Global Process Owner role.My role required skillful collaboration with multiple stakeholders on a day-to-day basis, whether it be with managers of different functions within the Japan office, legal/risk teams, internal and external tax team/advisors, shared service center colleagues, and colleagues in different offices across our global network. I have a keen interest in supporting HR development, both those within my team and colleagues from other offices/teams across the firm. With that in mind, I continue to host regular calls for my fellow managers in Asia to collaborate and discuss topics of interest, to support coordination and sharing of best practices across the region.

Supported financial due diligence across a range of industries, including automotive, beverage, apparel and insurance, that impacted multiple geographies, not only Japan. I also supported a number of fraud and dispute resolution projects.

Responsibilities included:1. Translation of international meeting materials, board of director meeting materials and business trip materials for Toyota Motor Corporation;2. Interpretation of proceedings at international meetings of Toyota Motor Corporation;3. Translation and editing of owners and repair manuals for a variety of Toyota Motor Corporation vehicle models;4. Coordinating the translation and editing of Toyota Industries Corporation’s Corporate Social Responsibility report;5. Translation of documents and manuals for other large Japanese firms;6. Marking consulting;7. Training and quality control of translators and interpreters; and8. Management of the translation and interpreting operations of the Overseas Solutions Department (including outsourcing of work and cost and schedule management). Major clients included Toyota Motor Corporation, Toyota Industries Corporation and other Toyota group companies, Denso Wave Incorporated and Fujitsu Ten.

Responsibilities included:1. Preparation of and conducting English lessons for Japanese senior-high school students, in Japanese; 2. Ability to grasp student’s academic needs and prepare appropriate classes and learning aids; 3. Translation of documents from both Japanese and English;4. Liaising between Ueda Nishi SHS and other international schools; and5. Interpreting at official school functions.
