About James Marcus

I'm a psychometrician and quantitative psychologist and have spent the last several years focusing on patient reported outcome (PRO) measures. I currently serve as a consultant at IQVIA in the patient-centered solutions group and previously served as a senior research associate at Evidera in the patient-centered research group and as as a scientist / psychometrician at Pharmerit International in the patient reported outcomes group. As part of my work, I design and lead the psychometric / trial analysis component of PRO research projects, both validating new instruments (including FDA submissions for medical product label claims) and analyzing PRO endpoints in randomized clinical trials.I earned a PhD in Psychometrics at Fordham University and also have a MA in Quantitative Psychology and a MS in Statistics from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. My research interests include the visual communication of uncertainty, judgment and decision-making, and applied measurement. I previously served as a psychometrician at the Center for Applied Linguistics, working on K-12 English language assessments. Earlier, as an associate psychometrician at the Educational Testing Service (ETS), I worked in the Educational Survey Assessment Research (ESAR) group on special studies related to the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). Prior to that I conducted research for ForecastingACE, an IARPA-sponsored project. Additionally, I have served as a research intern at the College Board, the Educational Testing Service (ETS), and Defence R&D Canada (DRDC).
