I help time-poor mining and resources executives and professionals to implement integrated, long-term financial strategies that aim to build wealth and protect their family as they build their career in a demanding industry. My clients typically start off their careers as engineers (electrical, mechanical, maintenance), geologists, metallurgists, environmental scientists and specialists in occupational health and safety, progressing into management and executive roles over time. Many are based in Queensland however I also have a number of clients interstate and overseas, with an expat community based as far afield as Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Dominican Republic, Chile, Canada, the UK and Europe.One of my areas of specialisation is Executive Shares Schemes, including how to integrate this form of remuneration into my clients’ overall wealth strategy and helping them to understand the opportunities and obligations involved with ESS so they can make the most of their shares. My knowledge and expertise in the field of ESS results in clarity and certainty for my clients on a range of matters, including the financial consequences of tax liabilities associated with ESS and how to approach this obligation strategically. This is especially applicable for clients who have been previously assigned overseas and have moved between multiple tax jurisdictions and treatments; I have advocated for two of our clients in this position and successfully recovered over AU$140,000 in excess withholding tax.
