Ex-European Commission and Britain in Europe media officer, speechwriter and researcher. Following a career switch, I have now been teaching and copywriting/editing/translating in the Czech Republic for 14 years. I have also written extensively on sport, particularly cricket, for a range of publications including ESPN and All Out Cricket (now owned by Wisden). Currently looking for a remote or UK-based role where my passion for politics or sport and my writing abilities can be aligned. My Twitter account, @Pavilionopinion, has over 26,000 followers and given me a great insight into the power and pitfalls of social media. I have drafted letters, speeches and briefings for leading figures in politics and media including European Commissioners, the late former foreign secretary, Robin Cook, Churchill's grandson, Sir Nicholas Soames, and the current MP for South Manchester, Lucy Powell. My teaching career has encompassed students of all levels, hundred of whom I have helped attain their Cambridge FCE, CAE or CPE certificates. Although teaching is clearly a departure from my previous work, I have always striven to apply the same levels of commitment and dedication to this phase of my career. I believe I am analytical, sharp and can get to the core of complex issues fast, then process them into the type of copy required. My editing and translation work in the Czech Republic has been in the private, public and academic sectors, including copy as diverse as a journal paper on the history of irrigation to a guide to buying property for expats. Unpaid, I have also sub-edited a huge amount of cricket articles for aspiring writers across the globe when approached to do so on social media.
