I am an Engineering Manager and Subject Matter Expert in the Utility Scale Energy Storage Industry. My experience includes the development and detailed design of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Utility-scale renewable energy projects and distributed energy resources (DER) and microgrid projects. I have served in development engineering, engineering management and subject matter specialist roles in project maturities ranging from early stage project development & feasibility studies to full detailed design and installation of EPC energy storage projects. I have worked with major lithium ion based energy storage OEMs as well as alternative storage technologies, and regularly interface with finance, origination, environmental and transmission teams to evaluate the various costs, technologies, risks, supply chain challenges, and strategies associated with energy storage project development.I am a licensed Professional Engineer, with experience with multiple scales of generation: from energy storage, distributed generation, renewable energy, and microgrids; to coal and combined cycle power plants and chemical production facilities. In addition to development and design, I've spent over a decade in facility maintenance+reliability+operations roles, as well as work in fossil power generation and chemical production facilities. I've been fortunate enough to share my experiences through participation in technical consultation roles and planning/brainstorming workshops for multiple utility clients, as well as periodically presenting at industry conferences and community townhalls.A broad listing of my experience includes project development, cost and feasibility analysis, engineering management, technical review of contracts and PPAs, conceptual and feasibility design studies, independent engineering reviews, fire protection and compliance, power distribution, power systems studies, electric utility markets and economics, high voltage substations, protective device coordination, large DC rectification, electrical safety and craft supervision, large substation transformers, medium-voltage motors and controls, NERC compliance, cogeneration power plant operations, automation and controls, maintenance planning, project engineering, and electrolytic cell line maintenance and operation. I am a former producer of the Close of Business ("COB") podcast, focusing on STEM and engineering related topics, and am a former president of two Toastmasters public speaking clubs. In my free time I enjoy endurance sports, music creation, and travel.
