Responsible for staffing and manpower in a government Supercomputing facility supporting 2 functional areas with 2 teams of 11 positions each.Monitor system activity and assist in production of reports and graphical data. Create and maintain shift logs, turnover logs and system downtime reports. Develop or assist with the development of processes, procedures and documentation for use by Operations and Desktop Support staff. Assist the Desktop Support team in performing monthly security scans and backups on Personal Computers, installation/setup of Windows systems, and verifying security patches and updates are applied.Verify work schedules and authorize changes. Manage time off requests. Ensure at least minimum staffing levels are maintained. Perform and assist in employee performance reviews and personal development plans. Recommend and implement merit increases and promotions. Perform as hiring manager for available positions, and direct new hires through the onboarding process. Responsible for 22 direct report personnel across two programs.Create monthly facilities maintenance report for government representatives providing a graphical representation of power consumption and utilization. Devices utilized include Windows PC's and UNIX/LINUX workstations. Mainframes monitored include Oracle systems (M5000, F12000, SL8500, SL3000), CRAY (XC-30, XC-40), IBM iDataPlex systems and HPE SGI 8600's.I currently possess a U.S. Government SECRET Security clearance in this job capacity.This employer is contracted to U.S. Federal Government.

While temporarily displaced by hurricane Katrina:Primary duties include translating existing procedures, both written and verbal, into procedural documentation to be used by Operations staff and off-site support facility. Also responsible for developing usable procedures for undocumented tasks performed by Operations personnel. Assist Operations staff with routine day to day operations related tasks, including Payroll and Accounts Payable check processing, daily backups, system monitoring and recordable media management. Computing environment consists of IBM OS/390 with VTAM and CICS, IBM AS/400, Windows 2003 workstations, various tape drives and media, optical libraries and various printers.

Supervise Operations personnel at the U.S. Naval Oceanographic Office, reporting to both contractor and Federal Government representatives. Monitor system activity and assist in production of reports and graphical data. Review shift logs and turnover logs for accuracy and correctness. Help develop and maintain procedures. Perform employee evaluations/appraisals. Devices operated include DOS and Windows PC's, UNIX workstations, various printers. Mainframes monitored include CRAY, SUN, SGI and IBM.

Responsible for daily operation of computer repair/upgrade facility and retail store. Oversee bench technicians and check quality of work. Perform bench work as needed to ensure expedient customer service. Perform accounting functions and inventory management. Create and file paperwork for warranty reimbursement from manufacturers. Report to owner on daily status of work being performed and administrative matters.

Assist users with software and hardware problems, as well as networking issues. Assist network manager with troubleshooting cable and connectivity problems. Perform printer and PC repairs. Perform hardware upgrades and installation of new equipment.

Make onsite repairs or upgrades to PC's and printers, both hardware and software. Create and follow call tickets progress to completion of repairs. Assist other helpdesk employees with problems. Install and maintain LAN/WAN servers and workstations, as well as administer the Novell network. Evaluate and recommend hardware and software. Determine user requirements for equipment. Perform daily backup of LAN servers.
