As part of the aero team, I was responsible for the cooling system for the PR87-22 and PR87-23. Usually, the design process is for a year in advance (2023) however due to events at the competition we needed a design for the current competition car (2022). Through this, I had to constantly liaise with the aero team to understand airflow through the sidepods, and powertrain to understand the performance needed from the cooling.Taking my knowledge from my first year on the team in my second year I took on responsibility for the design of the sidepods for the PR87-23. In order to achieve this I had to extensively develop my CATIA GSD skills as well as further my understanding of using and interpreting STARCCM+ plots to create the most optimised packaged possible not only to improve airflow internally through the use of downwash elements but also minimalise drag upon the real tyre face through the use of endplate outwash.

Through this role supporting the formula student team I was responsible for the creation of a detailed bill of materials for the entire car. Along side this we also had to provide a costed bill of materials for the frame, bodywork, suspension and all their associated systems.As the lead for the project it was my responsibility to not only delegate and mange the team but also to lead decisions and the direction to which we approached breaking down the car from its complete form to its most raw material states from which we build the car. This was an incredibly challenging project which demanded my upmost attention and focus to improve on the teams previous track record for costing. With a target of being in the top 50% of teams for the 2023 competition. In the end at competition we achieved 27th place which out of 62 teams was a great improvement upon previous years in which bottom 25% was our usual rankings.
