Mike is an energy consultant and energy infrastructure developer with over 40 years of experience in executive management, commercial development, and engineering design of energy-related projects. Mike has commercially developed and financed eight projects totaling $2.6billion including the 400MW Tynagh Energy CCGT in Ireland, the 530MW ISAB Energy IGCC in Italy, the 230MW Derwent Cogeneration Project in the UK and the 180MW Doga Enerji Cogeneration Project in Turkey along with two coal-fired fluidized bed projects in the US and two small hydro projects in Spain. Since 2001 Mike has been active in the development of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects in Europe developing projects with both pre and post-combustion capture of CO2 and transport and storage alternatives. These efforts culminated in the consortium bids under the UK CCS Commercialization Program and EU NER 300 CCS Program for the 400MW IGCC Teesside Low Carbon Project with CO2 transport and storage infrastructure. Consortium members included GdF Suez, BOC Linde, Premier Oil, and Progressive Energy. Mike uses his extensive international experience to evaluate market conditions and identify, assess, commercially develop, and finance energy infrastructure projects. Mike continues to advance CCUS projects including hydrogen production, new generation cycles with CO2 capture, and Direct Air Capture (DAC) of CO2. Mike is currently leading the engineering development team at Carbon Collect to develop the passive direct air capture system for carbon dioxide based on the MechanicalTree.
