OCRE employs numerical modeling, physical modeling and field experiments to deliver results to our clients in a variety of sectors, including offshore oil and gas, marine transportation, marine and waterfront infrastructure, hydro power production and water resource management.NRC has a significant investment in physical modeling facilities and as Director, I am responsible for the day-to-day operation as well as the strategic direction of physical modeling facilities. These include Canada's largest coastal engineering laboratories - the Large Area Basin (47m × 30m), Coastal Wave Basin (63 m × 14 m) and Large Wave Flume (97m × 2m). For offshore structures and ship studies, NRC operates a Tow Tank (200m × 12m × 7m deep), the Offshore Engineering Basin (75m × 32m × 3.5m deep), and the Multidirectional Wave Basin (26m × 36m). Finally, for evaluations of structures and ships in ice environments, NRC has a Large Ice Tank (90m × 12m × 3m deep - the longest in the world) and Small Ice Tank (21m × 7m). Show less
