I was responsible for the overall performance, reliability and availability of ASME’s 6 site, 300+ server Wide Area Network. Review, recommend, design and implementation of new technologies to better serve the organization’s mission and user base, while maintaining a hands on approach. As a Director, I managed a staff of 5, including two administrative SQL DBAs, one LAN manager, one Network Engineer and one SharePoint Administrator. Budget responsibility included all Operation and Architecture projects, improvements and maintenance on switching, routing, communication line maintenance, software, server, load balancer and vendor management. As the team size was limited, also served as the primary engineer for Active Directory, Switch Configuration, overall Network Design, Exchange Mail Systems, Router Configuration, line redundancy and Firewall management. For incidents including loss of services, I acted as the lead responder, ensured proper communication to management and impacted stake holders regarding anticipated resolution. Other responsibility included vendor management, staff mentoring, developing and enforcing the change management process within the Network Operations unit, server patch management, and disaster recovery and business continuity.
