My first job was at 13. I came into this business in 1983. I was put on fast track route. This involved me moving from office to office every 18 months building, or re-building an office to a highest standard. Looking back, I am humbly proud that I helped lots of fabulous co-workers into a long a fruitful career and helped many thousands (seriously) of people to move home. I became a Fellow of the National Association of Estate Agent which is now Propertymark.I finished my years at Bairstow Eves in Islington and by 2000, had had enough of the numbers game and churn and burn of a corporate, I left. I crossed the road and joined a young and refreshing family business called Currell Residential. It took me a short time to shrug off the corporate brain washing, but found I was able to use the many different styles of marketing, selling, promotions, ideas and methods that I had picked up in abundance. Working in the affluent shires, to urban grind, to inner and outer London had opened given me so many proven ideas. Selling large Country piles with multiple garages and acres to two up, two downs, to working in Auctions built a deep knowledge. The range was vast. I hadn’t been working in one office for decades. Anne and Chris Currell were looking to grow and I helped keep the focus and direction. What fun, what a journey, hard graft, trust, loyalty and dedication and more hard graft. It was magical to look after clients as individuals and tailor marketing accordingly. 19 years later, based at the flag ship Islington office, we were top 3 agents. From marketing and finding the buyer for an £8 million plus Islington house, we became the go to agent at the top end, until Savills came a shopping and bought Currell. 9 months locked out allowed me to make plans and set up in Islington again. Islington needs a hard working Independent with bags of energy and pedigree, and here we are. Besides, I am blessed with a long suffering wife, fast growing, boys and 2 cats to feed.
