Before I get to the nitty gritty, please stop here if you are looking to sell me contract management software, privacy policy tools, bibles or vacuums. I’ll reach out to you if I need any help. The great Vincent Gambini once asked, “How do you like your grits? Regular, creamy or al dente?” I wasn’t sure how to start this section, so why not use a line from a great Hollywood legal protagonists. I guess the alternative would be “you can’t handle the truth!” But, that is overused, and besides, it is from the witness, not the examining lawyer.Professional (Current):I work with a talented team that helps me run the legal and HR departments. I am responsible for all aspects of the legal department including: patent and trademark applications and portfolio management; brand enforcement including counterfeits and gray market goods; coordination of outside litigation counsel; entity maintenance in 7 countries; and, contract negotiation. I serve as a member of the leadership team and collaborate providing insight for strategic discussions from a legal perspective in conjunction with a team of seasoned executives. Finally, I work with the best HR staff as we conquer day-to-day HR problems of a global company. Professional (Past): A JD or MBA was the question after I finished school with a Bachelor’s degree in International Business. A man who had both told me, “you can always do business with a law degree, but you can’t practice law with an MBA.” That advice solidified my decision to attend law school. I spent my early legal career working at a civil law firm in Las Vegas. I handled a variety of matters including breach of contract, insurance claims, partnership disputes, product/premise liability claims, labor union claims, and others. I'm licensed in Utah, California and Nevada including admissions with the 9th Circuit and the United States Supreme Court. I’ve handled jury trials and bench trials to verdict in addition to hundreds of arbitrations and mediations. Personal:I married the love of my life and we are proud parents of 5 wonderful yutes (another Gambini quote). You can find me on mountain trails or snowy slopes when I’m not working. I love the outdoors. But in reality, I spend much of my time in front of screens working. I know, I sound ‘so much cooler online’ (sorry Brad Paisley).
