I currently work as the Assistant Estates Manager within the North School cluster of Wellspring Academy Trust. My role is to support the Estates Manager and wider Estates team as well as manage the Estates staff in my schools.I manage a team of 8 site operatives as well as cleaning contractors across 6 sites which consist of 1 PRU, 3 SEMH, 1 PMLD and 1 Main stream High School. Part of my role is to ensure that the site operatives are supported in order to carry out their day to day work, whether this be through providing materials or by providing training where necessary.I am responsible for ensuring all sites are compliant with Health and Safety as well as Fire Safety. I am responsible for the compliance for all sites in regard to maintenance as well as ensuring that Risk Assessments, CoSHH and Asbestos registers are up to date. I ensure that daily, weekly and monthly checks are carried out within set timescales. I also ensure that maintenance whether reactive or planned is carried out in a timely manner to ensure minimum disruption to school routines.I book and have oversight of contractors ensuring that Asbestos information is read and permits to work are completed. I regularly put out tenders for contracts and large maintenance works whilst ensuring compliance with legislation such as Construction, Design and Management regulations. I plan and implement large scale refurbishment projects during breaks in the school year such as the redecoration of areas of a High School this summer and most recently I have refurbished a Poly Tunnel allowing the space to be used as an outdoor classroom to enhance teaching. At the end of a project I carry out a quality control process to ensure a high standard of work. I am responsible for the maintenance budget of these schools and ensuring that best value for money is obtained. I am also responsible for the maintenance and compliance of the vehicles belonging to my schools.

In this role I was responsible for the health and safety of the school site including preparing risk assessments and site and buildings maintenance. I was responsible for obtaining quotes and carrying out the tender process. I was responsible for site security and I was the emergency out of hours contact. I monitored on-site contractors using the Construction, Design and Management Model (CDM). I managed cleaning staff and contractors, undertook regular and emergency cleaning and was responsible for stock control, porterage of equipment and furniture. I managed specialist site functions.
