Velcon Energy Devices LLC is involved in research and development into alternative energy devices. Currently work is being done on solar concentrator designs and the Keamatic engine. Owner James Rasmusson has over forty years of experience in design and industrial engineering, starting off as a packaging engineer, working for Hydra-matic, McDonnell Douglas and Raytheon. He then studied at NYU and Northwestern and became a certified prothetist. This led to the position of Director of R&D at Becker Orthopedic. As Director, Jim designed such products as the MonodosTM Joint, Hyperbolic ankle block, The CouplerTM adapter, the Genuliptic knee joint, and the EndocentricTM prosthetic system and is credited with three orthopedic patents. Jim has personally pursued solar energy technology and owns a patent for a ‘Non-tracking’ Solar Concentrator that ‘follows’ the sun without the need for complicated sensors and servos. Aerospace technology has also been explored with three patents being granted for attitude control and thrust systems.Jim has had many articles published, a book, and has authored product manuals. His busy week also includes work as a lab supervisor in the School of Engineering at GVSU in Grand Rapids.Specialties: Specializing in R&D and prototyping.
