I really made Tech III in 2019, but they used the economic downturn to withhold the raise and title change-lucky me. I took electronics prints, distilled them down to a hands-on training simulator, and taught frac electronics maintenance techs how to diagnose, repair, and support the equipment using a standardized process. I designed and built diagnostic tools for eTechs to use on a daily basis in the yard and the field. I was a member the Windows 10 rollout team and created a Windows 10 rollout image for worldwide distribution. I redesigned aged software utilities before being canned by Covid-19/oil market bust. Part of Team Halliburton- the best in the industry.

Maintenance support for the Permian District on cement, acid, and frac equipment and computers. I might be installing a server in a control van one minute and programming a mass-flow meter the next. I could be climbing all over a 2250HP pump looking for a failure and then repairing a tiny circuit board the next minute. Training new hires and troubleshooting confounding equipment, you have to be equipped and ready to do the same task in the field the same day. I design and build test equipment, develop diagnostic procedures, and drive million-dollar trucks around the yard. What a variety of functions and duties!

Maintained service for IBM 4300 series mainframe, 58 workstations and peripherals, phone systems, truck scales, and POS terminals at 14 locations in Texas and Oklahoma. Provided communication infrastructure between locations using microwave, internet, and dial-up technologies. Migrated from mainframe accounting and payroll system used for 35 years to PC accounting in under one year. Brought 15 'tenured' executives from pencil and paper accounting into the computer age without retiring any of them.

Converted aging county government software (Voter Registration, Real Property Indexing, Child Support Accounting, etc.) from mainframe CICs in assembler, COBOL, and PL/1 to personal computer applications that ran in three county courthouses. Personally designed and coded 90% of an MS-DOS Grain Elevator, Fertilizer Sales and Blending, and POS software using BASIC, Pascal, and 8088 assembler. Maintained all of the parent company’s mainframe accounting, payroll, profit-sharing and IBM systems software.

Started as line assembler on watch line and management noticed potential. Placed in Quality Control “SealTeam”, providing unfettered quality reporting to CEO J. Fred Bucy. Operational requirements led to learning BASIC programming, technology acquisition, education of additional inspectors, and technical specifications/operating procedures of all CMOS/MOS operations producing state-of-the-art memory chips. My team was credited with much of TI’s success in the 64K DRAM takeover from Japan. Eventually moved to Front End Engineering Computer Support. Member of Front End User Interface Upgrade where we developed point and click interfaced for inspection and traveler journaling. Maxed out non-degreed job grades.
