It is a PE backed business that had seen rapid growth over the past 2 years. Working with the Group Finance Director I provided leadership and management to the team as well as hands on practical changes to deliver routine monthly management accounts and Board Pack and financial information for the investors. During my time with the company- Providing leadership and stability to a finance team that had gone through a rapid turnover of staff. Re-organised roles and responsibilities to increase ownership and improve effective financial control- Reviewing the accounts and accounting processes, identifying failings in control processes resulting in a £400k misstatement of reported profit implementing the required changes in control processes both within the finance team and the wider organisation, as well as communicating this to the Board.- Worked with the payroll team to streamline processes and improve the accuracy of the payroll service, resulting in more rapid close off of payroll and improved staff satisfaction with the payroll service.- Worked with the auditors to ensure year end clearance acceptable to the investors.

Choice Healthcare is a £9.0m t/o domiciliary care provider operating from 11 offices across the Midlands and the north of England delivering around 12,000 hours of care per week. This is an owner managed business which had grown rapidly over the past 12 months. My responsibilities since joining the organisation has been to turn the business around I restructured the roles and responsibilities of the small finance team to ensure that they had clear focus and leadership in the tasks they were being asked to undertake. Implemented immediate changes in the sales ledger activity to improve billing and payment accuracy as well as more effective collection of private debts. This has reduced the overall ledger debt from £1.2m to £0.9m, in addition I have organised meetings with local authorities to resolve outstanding historical debt from the business acquired.I have worked with the owner and management team to re-focus efforts on driving revenue streams forward with the offices, as well as informing and influencing the offices to undertake leaflet drops and to proactively seek networking opportunities. To further enhance revenues I have reviewed and implemented price increases across the network as most prices have not been increased in the last 3-5 years.I have also supported the owner in preparing business plans and forecasts for the business as we seek an equity partner to provide support to the business as it looks to grow and develop.

I joined the organisation on an interim basis to provide the team with support and expertise to ensure everything was in place to deliver a successful audit. The organisation had recently brought its financial accounting back in house from shared business services and had also implemented Navision financial software.I worked with the team to ensure that any legacy issues arising from the transition were resolved and full controls in place to ensure the integrity of management reporting. In addition I supported the business in the acquisition of a residential rehabilitation unit providing focus and leadership in the development of a business wide project plan to get the unit open and functioning within a tight timetable. I utilised my existing experience of residential care operations to develop the relevant financial models to underpin the operation as well as providing policy development support and practical guidance in the requirements to get such a unit operational.

The key achievements during the past 5 years include- Complete financial restructuring of the business with a £30m debt facility being satisfied by the sale of freeholds for £14m and the balance converted into a share want- Agreed deals with landlords to close or transfer non-performing assets- Agreed and implemented rationalisation of care operations- Agreed and implemented working pattern rationalisation saving the group £500,000/p.a.- Was chief bid/tender writer for the organisation securing contracts worth £750,000/p.a.- Agreed and implemented new brand strategy and web-site development- Developed new audit and management tools in conjunction with the operations teamThis is in addition to managing the day-to-day administrative functions of the business with a team of 20 full and part time staff.
