Working on multiple projects that combine distributed control, fluid dynamics, and biomechanics towards the realization of self-organized systems that operate in turbulent flows. Applications include windfarm optimization, aircraft formations, automated vehicle platoons, and the study of flocking behavior in migratory birds.

Greater St. Louis Area

Investigated the modeling, analysis, and control of population dynamics and threshold models on networks, with emphasis on application to brain dynamics. In particular, my research focused on characterizing the equilibrium space and energy landscapes of these systems under various conditions. In collaboration with clinical neuroscientists, our analysis has already enhanced our understanding of brain dynamics in various cognitive states, such as wakefulness, sleep, and general anesthesia.

Groningen, Netherlands

Research on the analysis, control, and security of multi-agent systems connected by networks. Applications include distributed formation control, incentive-based control of decision-making networks, and security of networked andd cyber-physical systems.

Conducted research and developed algorithms for government-sponsored engineering projects covering a wide-range of fields, including network analysis and optimization, machine learning, and image processing.

Developed and implemented algorithms for teams of UAVs cooperatively searching for objects on the ground. Also assisted in field testing of UAVs.

Mathematically modeled the “signature” created by various vehicles passing over inductive loop detectors in the road. Developed a graphical user interface in MATLAB for simulation and visualization.

Simulated an adaptively-controlled, multiple-robot formation to determine how to keep the formation together on rough terrain and with limited communication.
