About James Rischbieth

I am a PhD Research Fellow, Fundamental Research, with the FWO (Fonds Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek - Research Foundation Flanders). I am undertaking my PhD at the Leuven Institute of Criminology, Faculty of Law and Criminology, KU Leuven, Belgium. My primary research focus incorporates legal and criminological assessments of victims' needs in post-atrocity contexts: i.e., post-genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity. I am a member of the Research Line on Human Rights and Transitional Justice and the Editorial Board of the Leuven Transitional Justice Blog.Beyond the victimology of atrocity and transitional justice, I take a strong interest in and have research experience covering the following topics: reparations theory and practice in post-conflict and transitional justice contexts; victims' issues at the International Criminal Court; human rights theory; international criminal, humanitarian, and human rights law; and the law and governance of international organisations.I am a graduate of KU Leuven (Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium) and the University of Adelaide (South Australia):Master of Science (M.Sc, Criminology), Cum Laude - KU Leuven.Advanced Master of Laws, International Law (LL.M), Cum Laude - KU LeuvenBachelor of Laws (LL.B), Honours, 2nd Class - University of Adelaide.
