Following a successful and fulfilling 25 year career as a London based corporate security professional I am continuing to gain great enjoyment from a change to a local life in horticulture. I am currently combining studying the ‘Royal Horticultural Society’ (RHS) Practical Horticulture syllabus as a part time mature student at nearby renowned Hadlow College (through to June 2022) with work at nearby Polhill Garden Center / village and providing gardening assistance to less able bodied community members. I am continuing to find the mental health and welling being benefits of working outside and caring for nature again to be significant and helping those in the local community during these difficult times very rewarding. I can thoroughly recommend this avenue for those who are thinking of hanging up their security boots! More than anything it’s nice to know how plants grow, how to propagate and manage them, whilst understanding the miracle of events such as pollination, fertilization, seed formation and germination.As with the security industry, I have found the science behind horticulture extremely interesting and hope to continue to study and follow a wealth of new technologies helping to understand how plants grow and react to changes in their environment. In particular, I would love to use my expanding plant knowledge and experience to benefit local community and environmental green projects and, in time, towards assisting genetic manipulation projects that may contribute to medical and food advancements and environmental projects..RHS Qualifications (Hadlow College, Kent):2021 / 22 - Level 2, Practical Horticulture 2020 / 21 - Level 2, Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation & Development
