As a Makerspace Technician, I became a rapid prototyping expert, familiar with all of the supported hardware and software. After learning the basics, I was tasked with developing technical expertise over time based on my strengths and interests. Most of my time is spent teaching others about our supported hardware and software and offering guidance on students’ personal projects.My job responsibilities include:- Leading certification workshops teaching the basic operation of our machines and supported software- Upholding the lab’s safety procedures- Offering insights and guidance on student projects- Designing and manufacturing demo projects to demonstrate software/hardware capabilities and develop expertise- Training incoming student staff- Undertaking other department duties as needed

Under general supervision, the intern will be responsible for timely installing desktop hardware and software to produce student identification cards and other projects. As part of the CarolinaCard Service team, the intern will assist with direct customer support related to summer orientation, software, and hardware support. This position will also build a wide area of technical expertise in operating and managing multiple system platforms.

In this on-site internship with the National Guard of SC, I was trained for many tasks that required time management skills, demonstrated excellent communication and organization skills, and maintained an in-depth knowledge of all operations in the office I gained from the supervisors over me.
