Explorium, Learning for the 21st Century, Supplementary Education Business, April 1st 2015:* Creative Science & Maths mentor - Collaborated with Galahad Clark, who owns the Vivobarefoot shoe company; also a member of Clarks Shoe Family. Sponsored by entrepreneur Adam Norris who owns the start-up Wavepower; delivering pioneering and unique project-based education in Somerset* Highly energetic, highly explorative - Studied the hexagon in depth to inspire children to see the Art of mathematics and it's connections to science, encouraging discovery through maths in nature and in technology; investigated how honeybees and Vivobarefoot shoes use hexagonal tiling, to maximise nest efficiency and maximise shoe flexibility respectively; creating real-world links with businesses* Communication and presentation - I formally delivered my own maths, science and music sessions that required me to extensively plan and compile visually captivating and explanatory learning material. I Also had to develop deeper interpersonal skills in an innovative environment that was changing on a weekly basis; my team skills were constantly being improved beyond my experiences in academia* Organization and vision - Ambitiously launched a three day Easter workshop on electricity & magnetism, personally resourcing the materials myself so that school-kids could build devices such as electro-magnets, rechargeable torches and AM crystal radios. Why? To explore the principles of converting the energy of ocean waves into electricity via magnets and circuits, in the hope of inspiring children to become future engineers who lead the renewable energy revolution in the 21st century
