As part of a summer placement, I worked as a design engineer in the Advanced Development Group, responsible for, but not limited to, prototype concepts and pit equipment. Here, I extended my computer aided design skills to design with manufacture intent, as well as using surface modelling for more complex tooling or components. The role heavily expanded on my prerequisite understanding of surface finishes; achievable, necessary and measurable tolerancing; drafting; materials; heat and surface treatments and resource-friendly design. The nature of this role helped develop skills in communication, understanding and teamwork.

Advanced component testing including static and fatigue testing in single and double axis test rigs; data acquisition and analysis; compiling of engineering test reports; devising and building bespoke test rigs/setups and machining bespoke test components using manual lathe and mill. Due to the nature of the role, I developed skills in test management and working in partnership with engineers and other departments, as well as knowledge of sensors; carbon composites; electronics; composite and metallic failure criteria; hydraulic assemblies; tyre fitting, among many more. The role formed an industrial placement year as part of my Masters degree in Motorsport Engineering.

Running progress reports within the Quality Steering Department. Responsible for processing and monitoring progress of DC Tooling from within the production line and creating a database for it's relevant information. Creating a method to communicate the most important quality issues to lead associates. Monitoring and reporting progress of production's Poka Yoke implementation.
