James serves as Managing Director - Capital Formation responsible for leading institutional fundraising, product development, strategic positioning and client management. James has over 14 years of commercial real estate experience, with a focus on private equity real estate capital formation across the United States and Canada. Over the course of his career James has worked closely with institutional allocators on opportunistic, value-add and core-plus strategies across multi-family, industrial, hospitality, automated cold storage, residential land, self-storage, single family rental and senior secured debt. Prior to joining Hilltop in 2024, James led real estate credit fundraising for Sound Point, a $46 billion credit manager, and served on the investor relations team of Westport Capital Partners, a $4 billion private equity real estate firm. James holds a B.S.B.A. in Economics and Political Science from the University of Richmond, Robins School of Business. When out of the office, James enjoys spending time with his wife Elizabeth and two young daughters Lily and Charlotte.
