I provide a form of back-end support to the Chalkable branch of Powerschool's network. This branch controls a Student Information System called Information Now, which tracks student data such as attendance, scheduling, discipline, grades, and the like, allowing teachers to focus more on education, and allowing administrators an easy way to report this data to the State Department.Currently, I manage back-end database issues for our Alabama district-level data servers, mostly pertaining to student enrollment and state identification numbers. Not only do I get to write SQL scripts for district-level iNow servers, but I have recently been given the opportunity to be a "State Tech", which works closely with the Alabama State Department of Education and their State Student database. This very important database houses over 700k records for all students enrolled in Alabama schools in the past decade, and controls a multitude of state programs and examinations. My role in this process is to ensure that students are placed in the correct school and district, that they are given the correct State ID, that these state records are connected directly to their sister records in the district, and that records keep their integrity by not merging together with other records. If any problems do arise, I am in charge of personally troubleshooting the issue, and correcting them by script, making my work with the state department very important to daily operation of the program. I have to be very meticulous or a student could lose precious data.
