IT Disaster Recovery and Service Continuity

Perform detailed technical project planning, status reporting and management of production operations for a large mission-critical system directly supporting patient care. Responsible for directing 5 concurrent technology projects required for go-live of the 100% digital Children’s Hospital in May 2009.• Project Management – Present to information systems leadership and hospital leadership on various technical topics, such as technical status, disaster preparedness, and budget adherence.• Team Leadership – Managed an 8 person team providing development and production support for the mission-critical Cerner application at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, running 8 AIX systems, 45 Windows servers, 2 Websphere servers and 10 Terabytes of storage.• Software Architect – Participated in design, build and testing of Cerner Computerized Physician Order Entry, INet, PharmNet, FirstNet and Document Imaging, thereby delivering value by supplying accurate & real-time information throughout the continuum of care.• Technology Architect – Designed and constructed a highly available, disaster-ready Cerner electronic health record for a $7 billion 20-hospital health care system.• Virtual Systems - Transformed a vast array of disparate vendor systems into an IBM On-Demand Virtual Environment utilizing IBM p-Series systems and IBM x-Series servers with virtualization technologies including dynamic LPARs, CPU virtualization, SAN Virtual Controllers and VMWare technology. Delivered value by reducing operating costs, reducing time to implement systems and improving service levels.• ITIL Process Improvement - Analyzed performance characteristics of mission-critical systems to identify performance weaknesses. Developed a remediation plan to address performance issues found during the analysis.
