About James Day
I am an experienced Project Manager and Data Scientist with a background in sports science, specifically Biomechanics. I currently work at Fusion Sport, a sports technology company, as a Senior Project Manager and Manager of Research and Analytics. I was previously a Sports Science consultant at the same company. I have a keen interest in the development of innovative technology and software to help measure, monitor and improve human performance. I also have a strong interest in using data to drive human performance through information led decision making. I have successfully led multiple projects both internally and with clients and enjoy using agile project management and lean philosophies to solve complex problems and deliver solutions. In my team with Fusion I have helped deliver key products such as a new mobile application, an open source R package and various features to our core software. I was awarded a PhD in the area of Biomechanics from the University of Queensland in 2015. I have an intimate knowledge in a broad range of Biomechanics research tools including the use of motion analysis, musculoskeletal modelling, electromyography and ultrasonography. I have a sound record of publishing and presenting my work and have also been successful in applying for multiple grants that I have utilised to travel to other Universities and open up collaboration opportunities with both domestic and international partners. I have also held many teaching roles including delivering guest lectures, coordinating the practical component of multiple courses and tutoring. In my spare time I enjoy getting outdoors - hiking, bike riding and taking my dog Wallace for long walks along the beach.
