Prodigy Scientific was born out of a vision to help brilliant scientists and ambitious start-ups with aspirations to make profound impacts on human health and environmental sustainability through scientific innovation.Through relationships and conversations with many scientists and owners of biotech startups, it became apparent that there was a real need for high quality technical instrumentation and service at an affordable price. The high cost of analytical equipment along with the level of technical training required to operate the instrumentation has often been a major barrier to innovation. Initially run out of the founder’s garage, Prodigy had its genesis as a small lab equipment refurbishing and tech support operation in a genuine effort to bridge this gap. Having worked for years in instrumentation support services for a number of global pharmaceutical and biotech companies, the founders were quite familiar with the often wasteful instrument life cycle process of big pharma and were subsequently able to identify an opportunity to simultaneously mitigate the inefficiencies in this process while also addressing the instrumentation needs of smaller companies by purchasing equipment from laboratory liquidations, then refurbishing, reselling, and supporting the equipment at a very affordable price.
