Senior Network Engineer
Senior Network Engineer has the primary responsibility for: • Incident management• Voice Network Troubleshooting• Analysis• Routine maintenance• Manage the implementation of network change• Development and implementation of standards and procedures• Improving customer’s experienceKey accountabilities for this job role:• Manage and resolve network incidents within KPI. Platforms supported include – Nortel DMS, Nokia MSC/ATCA and associated peripherals, Alcatel IN/NIVR, Genband CS2K, Tekelec STP/EPAP and DSR, Cafe Voicemail, Motorola LAT, Excel Missed Call Service, Roaming Traffic Director, Voicemail Roaming, EIR, Ericsson IMS C20.• Liaise with other fixer groups within the Network Management Centre, Field, Exchange, Tier2, Engineering and vendors.• Escalation of incidents to relevant fixer group in accordance with procedures and guidelines.• Escalation of incidents which meet “major” criteria to the Optus Command Centre (OCC).• Prioritise and complete maintenance and routine tasks without supervision, to deliver maximum network availability.• Facilitate and manage the implementation of network change by being the central point of contact for all planned activity, ensuring work has been authorised by relevant parties, work is performed according to guidelines and implementation plans, and confirmation that all changes are tested after work is complete.• Continuous process review, improvements and implementation.• Adherence to local area procedures such as WH&S and security policy.• Provide peer training to less experienced team members.

Responsibilities:• Monitor traffic performance and provide tier 1 technical support for the Optus Core telephony network.• Activate traffic management functions to minimize the impact of network faults, equipment outages and congestion on Optus’ direct connect, long distance and international customers.• Liaise with internal, external and other carriers groups to provide efficient isolation of network faults.• Management of IFMS fault tickets for priority handling and fault restoration and to ensure escalation of troubles that are business critical or exceeded KPI.• Active involvement and participation in the ongoing development of processes and procedures for integration of new core network elements.
