Pioneering the role of Head of Research Operations, I worked in partnership with the CSO to optimize the entire structure of Discovery and how Research Operations fits in. This involved initiating, developing, implementing, and leading functions including: strategy, program management, portfolio management, discovery alliance management, budgeting, and operations.Recruited to increase Discovery capabilities and output, I succeeded in working with the organization to double discovery size, optimize footprint, and add new modalities to pipeline in less than 3 years. As Senior Director, I held leadership responsibilities in R&D Investments while continuing the projects of Bioelectronics, target sciences, and Platform & Capabilities Investment Board (PCIB). Key responsibilities:► Developed and aided in prioritization of R&D strategic investment plan for all new investments for R&D Leadership Team (RDLT)► Evaluated wide range of new science ideas: robotics, automation, artificial intelligence, IT, collaborations► Evaluated effects of new sciences on internal organizations and departments► Tracked milestones and deliverables for key investments► Continued developing collaboration on open platform to grow target science information availability► Continued driving bioelectronics business development

It was in my position as Director of R&D that I worked with a small group of investigators to discover new opportunities that led to the development of the bioelectronics company, Galvani. As Director, I initiated the development of the Platform Capabilities Investment Board, which I continued to implement as Senior Director. Additional responsibilities included:► U.S. Head R&D Strategy group: Managed multiple reports and oversaw project deliverables for R&D Leadership Team and President of Pharma► Core member of GSK Chemistry Council: Led chemistry quality initiative, determining chemical factors to decrease attrition and improve success

Brought onto the R&D Strategy Development Team as Manager, I aligned biopharm and therapeutic areas to increase delivery of large molecules to reach the GSK goal of 20% of the pipeline; formulated investment strategy for epigenetics; and created and led candidate delivery work, collaborating with senior leaders across Discovery to identify issues and solutions to increase candidate quality and delivery.

Manager (2008-2010):Promoted to Manager of Biological Reagents and Assay Development, I served as the Oncology-Platform Liaison as a member of Oncology leadership team to prioritize discovery portfolio and allocate resources. I led multi-disciplined matrix teams, including a number of teams in early stage drug discovery programs, which resulted in a number of drug candidates and first time in human assets. In addition, I created and was a core member of a Fragment Based Drug Discovery Group.Principal Scientist and Investigator (2004-2008):In this position, I supported program teams with enzymology and mechanism of action studies; performed detailed mechanistic enzymology studies to investigate mechanism of action; and designed assays of various formats to enable teams to find hits and develop candidates for a number of therapeutic areasPost-Doctoral Scientist (2003-2004):During this time I supported the Bill Gates Foundation and Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV) in malaria discovery efforts, developing assays and participating in team meetings with scientists across the globe to find small molecule inhibitors of malaria targets.
