Most of my professional career has been in education since 2006. I have worked with some of the highest risk youth in South Dakota during this time, first with the DOC from 2006-2008. I moved from the DOC facility in Custer to the Woodfield Center in Beresford, SD to be closer to family. Shortly after starting that job I found out the facility was closing down, the youth were being moved to other treatment centers and staff were being laid off. I started to substitute teach for some time while looking for full-time work, as well as working other side jobs like night stock at Sunshine foods and even canvassing during the 2010 census. I did finally take a job in manufacturing for over a year to gain full-time pay and health insurance before I took the Out of School Suspension job during the 2012-2013 school year. I am currently still in that position.I am currently spending my summers working at Lifescape in the maintenance department. I mostly work on landscaping jobs and mowing the properties. I love being able to work in the outdoors during the warm months. At first I spent most of my time at the youth facility, but now I work almost entirely with the adult services on the various properties that are used by clients.I am married with 4 children. We enjoy the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and anything at the lake. If we are not running to the lake or state park we are in the back yard checking the garden or working with our rabbit herd. Our rabbits are raised mostly for 4H and ARBA shows, I am currently the president of the South Dakota Rabbit Breeders Association.
