Hands on retooling of exchange and clearinghouse software for forex binary options and then again for weather binary options. Provided HFT interface to market makers in FIX. Introduced the first CFTC approved parimutuel contracts. Rewrote central limit order book (CLOB) to handle real-time market making. Implemented SDR reporting per new Dodd-Frank rules. Automated the listing and settlement of short-term instruments. Business analyst working on adding IRS and CDX instruments to the products traded on ELX. Oversaw the technical development of the exchange's software and it's operations through a rapidly changing regulatory environment.Worked with development group to define and implement the unique features of the ELX rules for printing off-exchange negotiated trades. Developed weekly fantasy game for mobile and web platforms. Worked with gaming business professionals to define and implement Cantor Fantasy Sports product. The product supported real-money betting as well as play-for-fun. Worked with legal experts to meet legal requirements of the Safe Harbor Act and to legitimize the business for application distribution. (App Store, Google Play)Worked with Cantor Gaming (now C.G. Technologies) to integrate odds feed and developed the Fantasy Line™ which is a unique feature of Cantor's fantasy product. I put together a team of mobile application development professionals and distributed iPhone, iPad, and Android front-ends. Implemented evolving social gaming features.

Chief Technical Officer for Cantor Exchange, a CFTC designated futures exchange and clearinghouse. Managed a team of developers and technical operations staff.Began from scratch by designing business workflows for futures trading and clearing. I designed an entirely new J2EE system for trading and clearing and oversaw the construction of this system over a two-year period. I worked with the existing Cantor-Fitzgerald and BGC Partners IT departments to provide infrastructure support for the new trading system.I documented the trading system and infrastructure as well as the business rules for submission to the CFTC for regulatory approval. I met with regulators to discuss numerous aspects of the business, software, and infrastructure and was instrumental in obtaining designations for the Cantor Exchange and Cantor Clearinghouse.Worked with the treasury, compliance, and other operations groups within Cantor and BGC to insure that requirements for reporting and transferring money were properly documented and supporting software was implemented.

Software Architect within software group responsible for EMC Control Center software. Worked within a team of 5 software architects that oversaw the product’s technology from a high-level.Performed requirements analysis for an entirely new version of the product to be developed by a company acquired by EMC. Worked with existing developers to improve product quality and solve customer issues. I engineered an upgrade to the product’s JDK and solved problems related to the daylight savings time change.

Architect/Project Manager for Lexington, MA office of Chicago-based independent clearinghouse. Supported the Extensible Clearing System (ECS), a J2EE, web based system for clearing and settlement of exchange-traded futures. Also authored new clearing systems for in-house and sale outside of the enterprise.Acted as developer/architect for equities clearing and settlement system for the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.Acted as architect on integration of older version of ECS into existing legacy environment.Acted as architect/PM for a new version of ECS. A system capable of clearing equities, derivatives, and OTC derivatives.

Managed a group of 5 developers in trading systems group. Worked with business analysts to refine specifications and led a team of developers to implement fixed income workflow. Supported legacy application which tracks delivery of mortgage pools. Also worked extensively with the team that migrated the new trading system into production while maintaining backward compatibility with the legacy system.Lead developer on web-based testing harness for J2EE applications. This software utilized JSP and struts for navigation and was used for unit testing the trading system described above.

Business analysis and planning for Equity/Connect electronic trading system. Performed analysis, and helped create test plans and execute them. Worked with offshore development team in China.Worked on buy-side sell-side fix connectivity for giving clients direct access to market makers and exchanges. Also worked to maintain CMS connections to listed exchanges. Led effort to build routing engine to enforce rapidly changing business rules for which equity orders get routed to which destinations.Performed business/technical analysis for establishing connectivity to Euronext and Xetra trading systems.

Architect for IBM next generation LearningSpace product. LearningSpace is a web based e-learning product. This was a complete rewrite of the product within the WebSphere 5.0 J2EE architecture. It was designed for multinational deployment.I mentored existing IBM staff in UML data modeling and implementation of J2EE application. I authored design and coding standards, designed an application framework for the business logic, and created a majority of the object model in UML. I also mentored several engineers, performing code reviews and participating in the project management process.Because of my expertise in J2EE and the development process I was asked to advise other groups within the organization on development methodology and J2EE technology.

Project manager and architect for a small startup company concentrating in product-development for the financial services industry. Mentored U.S. staff and staff in India and managed several projects:Managed project which provided market-impact calculations to brokerage clients over the web. Began with an Excel spreadsheet used by traders and used this to build web-based replacement which was accessible directly by clients. Utilized J2EE architecture.Managed development of order matching and crossing system. This system was to function as an ATS (Alternative Trading System) under SEC rules. The system was written in C++ with an Oracle database as its back end. The system used real-time market data to implement adjusted limit pricing strategies.Managed and architected buy-side trading system based upon J2EE architecture. Worked with the CEO to write business requirements documentation for an online financial information product. Documented the asset allocation algorithm, electronic trading requirements, subscription services and marketing information gathering requirements.Worked with the Portfolio Manager to document the risk measurement algorithm which is based upon price history and factor analysis. Documented the asset allocation algorithm which was A.I. based and utilized the above risk measurements. Used this documentation to write and diagram use cases and to patent the algorithms. I was listed as an inventor in the patent.Web site used Microsoft IIS, ASP, Visual Basic, Visual C++, and COM+. Mathematical calculations used MATLAB.

NBS Limited is a Compaq Computer value-added-reseller. I was hired to expand its business into professional services. I managed several support contracts. My responsibilities included responsibility for recording customer needs and requests and assuring that these were met by NBS staff. Also responsible for developing bids for work. State Street Brokerage Services is a division of State Street Bank. This is a continuation of my work from Lattice Trading. (see below) Lattice Trading was eventually acquired by State Street Bank from CS/First Boston. One of the conditions of the sale was rehiring certain key staff of which I was one.Project Manage for electronic trading unit responsible for Information Technology and server software development. Responsibilities included management and budgeting of two groups responsible for maintenance of all systems and server software development for the Lattice product. Drove the adoption of CORBA and the reengineering of server software. Participated in the following high-level initiatives:Porting Core Software to UNIX PlatformPorted remaining VMS server software to DEC UNIX. Translated VMS system service calls to UNIX. Designed and constructed high-availability DEC Alpha server platform using DEC ASE services.InternationalizationDesigned and added features to the core trading system to allow trading in multiple currencies and multiple time zones. Connected the trading system to European markets.Performance ReportingDeveloped software to extract trade data from archives and analyze trading performance of clients in order to encourage use of the system. Principal engineer in the development of management software for a line of remote access devices. Designed software architecture and mentored a group of C software engineers in C++ and object-oriented software development. Developed the Quick2Config Annex product. 32 bit software was written in Visual C++ and used SNMP.

First employee in a small electronic trading partnership which was eventually purchased by CS/First Boston. I performed several roles as the organization grew. These include customer support, pre/post-sales technical support, field service, system and network management, and software development. All work was done in C++. Projects included the UNIX proprietary desktop GUI, distribution of real-time market data, Windows proprietary desktop GUI, and a proprietary distributed object system.

Responsible for soliciting and fulfilling government contracts in aerospace research and development. Concentrated on software reliability studies and parallel processing. Also responsible for design and administration of Macintosh and UNIX network. Projects included Functional and Reliability Testing of Parallel Software, Multiple-version Fault-Tolerant Software Structures, and Connection Machine Simulator.

Created and managed a group of software engineers for development of customer enhancements to semiconductor manufacturing equipment. Acted as liaison between U.S. development group and home office software engineers in Japan. Developed SECS II interface for electron optic semiconductor inspection equipment.
