Serves as a Human Resources Specialist (Military) in the Soldier and Family Assistance Center (SFAC) for a large SFAC. Provides advice and consultation to the Director, Soldier and Family Assistance Center on a wide variety of military HR matters. Assists with the development of the program guidance and instructions for the SFAC Program. The incumbent assists in carrying out special assigned projects or portions of broader studies to resolve controversial issues. Provides guidance, interpretations and/or training on current and proposed policies concerning military personnel management to a wide variety of individuals, managers, and key officials. Provides on-site assistance and appropriate recommendations concerning specific problems or issues in relation to the SFAC program and, specifically, the military personnel support program.

Performs as a Human Resources Assistant on a team in the Transition Center. Responsible for the processing of Officers for unqualified resignation, REFRADS, retirements, chapter discharge, medical separation and retirement. Receives and reviews military personnel files to determine the eligibility of Officers to separate. Prepares correspondence; maintains appointment calendars and suspense files. Conducts one-on-one interviews with Officers to ensure the utmost accuracy in the processing of orders and DD Form 214. Responsible for ensuring Officers are aware of benefits earned as a result of their active service. Uses automation systems (PERNET, TOPMIS, Micro-Soft Office, TRANSPROC, IPERMS) for input of data for issuance of orders, preparation of separation document, termination of active pay accounts, and data used for preparation of eMILPO transactions and various reports. Computes dollar amounts of various separation benefits. Supports not only active duty Officers but also Reserve and National Guard. Supports Equal Employment Opportunity. Interacts daily with Human Resources Command, G1, Brigade S1s and separate Battalion S1s.
