Workplace Team Leader, managing 14 Engineers across 5 UK locations. Coming from a datacenter background, this change was a challenge that I didn’t expect. Communication again has been key to a successful team and working alongside ISP’s has given me some great managerial skills. User satisfaction has been a big aspect to this role and working with / developing a Tech Bar on the account has been a driver for this. Seeing how the service desk can assist the account has also been a great experience which comes with many challenges.

This was a great role to learn more about the different aspects of how to operate a datacenter and at the same time, learn about building / designing infrastructure from the ground up. A big part of this role involved working with the Server / Network teams so having the overall experience of network designs and server dependency etc gave me the understanding of what was needed to carry out the work. A large majority of my time was spent on managing Server / Network Migrations. This involved talking to key steak holders across multiple regions and setting out a clear understanding of what was needed and why we were planning the work. Throughout my Years working on this account i also managed and co-ordinated building shutdowns from a Hardware Break/Fix perspective. This entailed gathering device data and bringing together multiple teams for asset ownership, communicating and organising critical server issues, and making sure the business returned to normal within vigorous timeframes.

My next role working with Computacenter included Server Provisioning and Migrations for one of our customers in the financial sector. Organisation and planning were some of the key skills i needed to develop over the years in meeting business growth. Both aspects to this role needed communication skills that were direct and clear, keeping the business informed with milestone updates and the essential data.
